After working with Kyler, Kat (& Bojack), and Jordan (& Atlas) the dogs have gained a ton of confidence. I’m happy to say that the trainers here have turned these pups around in a remarkably short time. Once we started guiltily whispering about possibly rehoming at least one of the puppies I started searching again to see if there were any other good options.Īfter reading some really excellent reviews and having owner Tra over to the house for an evaluation, we decided that we’d give Dog Training Elite a try. When they turned about 7-8 months old, our lives became extremely stressful, as both dogs, who were always a bit timid despite what we thought was sufficient socialization, developed a significant fear of strangers, reacting toward people and other dogs, and sometimes redirecting onto each other. After seeing Duke react to the choke chain we were told to use, I was pretty set on reinforcement-based training alone due to my own fears about causing more harm than good, but we were quickly becoming exhausted with two adolescent sibling pups who needed handfuls of treats all day long to listen to us. Karin will be a blessing to your family no doubt. We put our two adopted Rottweiler/American Bully littermates Duke and Daisy through a board and train program with another company when they were about 6 months old and, while they ended up with a decent grasp of basic commands, we still felt pretty helpless as owners since we received very little education on how to effectively continue the training ourselves. Always arrived on time & in a great mood. She showed my grandmother the utmost respect at a difficult time in her life. All these extras are so appreciated, but what matters the most is how she treated my grandparents and pets like her own. She always went above and beyond by bringing in the mail, newspaper, trash, recycling - if she went shopping she took all the items out of the packaging and put them neatly in the refrigerator and cupboards. I know how much work caring for the elderly can be, and she never let the stress of the job show. She was so patient with my grandmother who had dementia/Alzheimer's. I cannot express what a Godsend she was for my family (& as an added bonus she's GREAT with pets!!! She cared for my dog and my grandparents two cats, she treated them like her own and even gave them love and attention on days she wasn't "needed" for that task!) I would love to cuddle and walk your favorite companion!. I eventually learned how to potty train them, play games with them, and take them on many walks. I learned how to care for dogs nervous around new people and new environments. These dogs were clicker trained by us, the students, in order to later work with veterans with PTSD or children with autism.ĭuring the pandemic, I had the opportunity to foster dogs! I fostered 3 different dog breeds. In college, I had the opportunity to work with service dogs for a class. I am very active and love going for walks and runs and would love to take your dog with me! I am very energetic and ready to have a fun day of play with your pet. I currently have two cats that I care for. I grew up on a farm so I have been around many different kinds of animals. I have worked with both cats and dogs since I was a child. Hi there! I am Starr, a 24-yr-old college graduate that loves animals! I provide cat and dog sitting, check-ins, and walks. Let's discuss how I can make you comfortable while away from your pet. I respect the vulnerability of letting a "stranger" into your home and being responsible to keep your pet safe. I send lots of pictures and do what I can to make them comfy. Why me?: I am particularly in-tune to animal needs, especially when their owners are away. I am comfortable with big dogs and dogs with behavior challenges (case by case) I have rescued 4 Rottweilers in my past. What can I offer? I specialize in dog boarding, but will do home visits and I'm experienced with other animals. I have various pets: an indoor bunny, chickens, a dog, and a live-in trainer dog I help raise guide dogs for the blind and board guide dogs for fellow trainers. I have 25+ years of experience in pet sitting (starting when I was 8!) and 10+ years in dog training. My Bio: I'm a School Counselor (on hiatus) stay-at-home-mom.
